Apple Crisp

Serves 4 to 6

Cooking apples: Granny Smith, Braeburn, Macoun

For the apple
6-8 medium to large cooking apples, cored and cut into wedges
2 tbsp lemon juice
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg (optional)

For the topping:
3/4 cup flour
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
1/4 cup kosher salt
1 cup oatmeal
1 stick unsalted butter, softened

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

Butter an 8" square baking dish.

Combine the apple wedges with lemon juice, cinnamon and nutmeg. Pour into the dish.

In a large bowl, combine flour, sugars, salt, oatmeal and butter. Mix with your finger until the mixture is crumbly. Sprinkle evenly over the top of the apples.

Bake for 30-35 minutes until the apples are bubbly and the crust is brown. Serve warm.
